On November 1, 2022 Taylor Swift fans received the news they had been waiting for since 2019: the Eras Tour. Swift’s last tour, The Reputation Stadium Tour, concluded in November of 2018 with a total of 53 shows performed. Since then, she has released five new albums– two re-recorded. Since the Reputation tour, fans have been anxiously waiting for new concert dates, and speculating how the tour would work concerning the three new albums she released in that time. For Swifties, the Eras Tour has been a long time coming.

“I’m seeing Taylor in Nashville,” Astrid Sullivan, 10 said, “I’m really looking forward to seeing Phoebe and Gracie open.”

The Eras Tour shows light on Swift’s three new releases, in addition to all ten. Taylor will be accompanied by tour openers including Paramore, bebadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, MUNA, HAIM, GAYLE, Gracie Abrams, and OWENN. Before the tour started, it was assumed by the name that each album or “era” would be represented by songs during the show. Opening night in Glendale (or Swift City), Arizona provided fans with their assumption and more.

The three-hour and ten-minute concert opens with “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince”, a song from her album Lover. Swift then transitions betweenmany stage and outfit changes while spotlighting each album in a miscellaneous order: Lover, Fearless (Taylor’s Version), evermore, Reputation, Speak Now, Red (Taylor’s version), folklore, 1989, and Midnights.

Taylor also throws in two surprise songs throughout the set.

Fans attending the concerts have sparked many group projects including passing around friendship bracelets and holding up different colored lights during certain songs. Fans have also been staying in style by dressing up using different era’s themes.

“I’m really excited about throwing and trading the friendship bracelets,” Natalie Dreiling, 11 said, “It’s going to be so fun trading bracelets with new friends.”

The Era’s Tour is being performed in various football stadiums around the United States and has sold over 2.4 million tickets nationally. Swift makes her way to the Midwest in early June with shows in Chicago on June 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, and in Detroit on the 9th and 10th. This tour is set to become the highest-grossing of all time, potentially bringing in $520 million dollars. It’s no doubt Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is an extremely hot topic; cities are changing their names and social media platforms are providing content for all fans. Swift’s five-month tour has excited fans throughout the country and continues to as she switches up the setlist and releases more surprise songs. Taylor’s bringing 3 hours of singing, shouting, and crying to each city, and she’ll make the whole place shimmer.
