Fallen icons of the decade
You knew them. You might have loved them. But where are they now? With their sacrifices and dedication to pop culture, they paved the for modern-day celebrities, influencers, and entertainers. As the iconic reign of the 2010s concludes, it’s only right to remember the fallen soldiers of the decade. Let’s give a last salute to the stars of the decade.
Up first—Brenda Song or you may know her as London Tipton from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and The Suite Life on Deck, which aired between 2005 - 2011. Although Song hasn’t had a groundbreaking role since these shows, she has made guest appearances on Scandal and New Girl. Nothing monumental has happened in Brenda’s life; however, she is dating Macaulay Culkin. Speaking of Macaulay, what happened to him after the 1990s?
Kyle Massey, where are you? You may know Kyle as Cory from That’s So Raven and his own spinoff, Cory in the House. Kyle made it to the finals during season 11 of Dancing with the Stars, in 2010. Since his time on DWTS, Massey hasn’t appeared on television screens for any starring roles.
Ashley Tisdale was better known as Sharpay Evans, Maddie Fitzpatrick, and Candace during her time on Disney. Since Ashley’s Disney appearances in the earlier portion of the decade, she has kept herself booked and busy. During her most recent project, set to release in 2020, Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe, Ashley donated her voice to the role Candace.
Call her a one-hit-wonder, maybe? Carly Rae Jepsen hit us with her popular song “Call Me Maybe” in 2012, and boy, did we fall in love, but it may be safe to say you can call her career as good as over. After her smash hit, Jepsen participated in the Broadway version of Cinderella in 2012. Since then, she’s also donated her voice to the film Leap and released a few albums, however, none of them have achieved the level of success “Call Me Maybe” once did.
Jason Dolley is one star we all thought would be making it big in Hollywood by now. With his starring role on GoodLuck Charlie as the eldest child, PJ, in the Duncan family. Since then ending of Good Luck Charlie in 2014, Jason hasn’t reappeared on our screens for any roles. Good Luck, Jason.
And she’ll never be mainstream again. New Zealand born singer, Lorde, took over the charts and became popular in 2013 after the releasing of her song, “Royals.” Six years later, and Lorde has since released three albums. However, Lorde was involved in a pop culture conspiracy theory referring to her age.
Cody Simpson has dropped some music, but the most notable thing he’s done is become Miley Cyrus’ arm candy–I mean boyfriend.
Since the decade has just about come to a close, it’s sad to see our childhood go with it. Thank you to the stars who’ve made my childhood remotely entertaining. It is lowkey heartbreaking to see some of the decades most lovable be forgotten after their show’s reign on air ended.
