THE SENIOR ISSUE
DESIGN BY SKY STOCKTON
VOLUME 20. ISSUE 7.
As the 2019-2020 school year comes to an abrupt end, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate not only our seniors on staff, but SJHS’ senior class as a whole. COVID-19 has changed the lives of every single high school student, and the class of 2020 will end their final year like no other. No graduation caps flying high, no dresses spinning on prom night, and no goodbyes—to teachers, to friends, and to everyone in between. But just because our final year was cut short doesn’t mean that the rest of high school didn’t happen.
In these past four years, we grew up. We cheered our voices away at football games, failed one too many math tests and dragged ourselves out of bed on Monday mornings. We cried, laughed, and finally got those braces off. Freshman year taught us to navigate the school halls—and that life really does get better after middle school. Sophomore year taught us that balancing chemical equations is hard, but parallel parking is even harder. Junior year taught us to start thinking about the future and reminded us that a SAT score isn’t everything. We got through friendships, breakups, lonely lunches and the overwhelming pressure to figure out who we want to be. Through it all, we made it.
Now, with senior year almost behind us, bigger and brighter things await us all. College, careers, and even the rest of our lives are just beyond the walls of SJHS, calling our names. High school isn’t supposed to last forever, but with the help of this issue, hopefully our memories will.
Class of 2020, this one’s for you.

the end.
At least, the end of this chapter in our lives. But with high school behind us, our class has so much to look forward to, and we can’t wait to see where everyone ends up. The future awaits, SJ—and it looks pretty bright.
