WHILE MY TIME AS A SJ HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT IS COMING TO AN END,

I’d like to thank all of my teachers and peers for creating such a stressful, comical, and abnormal work environment. There was never a day that went by where a memory wasn’t made. I was fortunate enough as a student to be able to participate in the school’s newsmagazine. This opportunity gave me a voice, that normally wouldn’t get heard. I’m thankful for all of the opportunities that Wind-Up gave me, from Economic Club speakers, Michigan State Journalism speakers, to skipping class to promote the Wind- Up. I guarantee that all of the students who participated in the creation of each Wind-Up every month had an extremely different high school experience than the students who didn’t. Wind-Up opened my eyes in the sense that there were more problems in the world, more problems in Michigan, more problems in St. Joseph than anyone could handle—yet, we, as a staff, always had the balls to do so. Ranging from 14 to 19, our class makeup opened the eyes of everyone in it. I can’t say I got along with everyone; I can’t even say I liked everyone, but I did learn to value and respect them. Wind-Up taught me about the world when no one else was going to. And, for that— I’m so thankful.
