WIND-UP LITERARY EDITOR•SJHS CLASS OF 2020 •MC CLASS OF 2024
MY TIME AT ST. JOSEPH COULD BE SUMMED UP BY MANY ADJECTIVES:
stressful, conflicted, exciting. I am not the same person I was when I first walked through the doors of SJHS, and I’m willing to bet that you aren’t, either. My high school experience wasn’t perfect, and it certainly wasn’t anything like a movie. I spent a lot of time stressing over homework, my too-full schedule, and what my friends really thought of me. But I also cheered for the football team from the student section, walked my friends to class while we debated about fonts, and worked hard to earn a spot in the academic top ten. My time as a high school student ended early and abruptly, and there are certain things I’ll never get back. My last orchestra concert, my senior prom, and my last Wind-Up layout week were all unexpectedly lost, but I’m so grateful that I was able to experience concerts and dances and long, stressful days of work up until now. Your high school experience might be complicated—mine was too. You might wish that you could graduate early and escape the stresses of high school—so did I. But as the day that I would have graduated approaches, I know that I truly loved my time at SJHS, and I hope anyone reading this will feel the same.
“I did meet some of the most insufferable people, but they also met me!”
