October Album of The Month
Leaving quite the impression, Sabrina Carpenter released her seventh album, Short n’ Sweet, on August 23. Sabrina’s clever wordplay and catchy lyrics contributed to the record’s climb to the number-one spot on the Billboard 200. Straying away from the heartbreak and sorrow of her last album, Emails I Can’t Send, Sabrina brings out her flirtatious and cheeky personality in what she calls her “ovulation album.”
With the help of popular producer, Jack Antonoff, Sabrina released her two singles from the album — “Please Please Please” and “Espresso” (the 2024 Song of the Year at the VMAs) — which quickly became the songs that were unable to leave the listener’s heads.
Sabrina spent most of her childhood in the Disney world, starring in “Girl Meets World” and being featured in many other Disney Channel shows. Short n’ Sweet proves she is her own person, and unleashes her innocence. The production brings back a disco style to music, while still holding onto the pop element. Both synth and syntax combine to create Short n’ Sweet’s catchy vibe, and with 233 million streams in the first week of release, the album has proved to be a fan favorite.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Sabrina stated, “I just love people who understand my sense of humor.” With her listeners’ admirability to her lyricism, it’s obvious she found her people.
