January-February Fashion Spotlight
Savannah Brown, 10, strives to make statements with her style every day. She said she came out of her shell with her fashion over quarantine.
“I decided to really wear what I want and get into the style I’ve always wanted,” Savannah said.

The style Savannah is shooting for is emo, grunge, goth and alternative fashion. She mentioned that she does look online for inspiration, but is conscious to not limit herself to one specific aesthetic.
One of Savannah’s biggest components of her looks is makeup. “If I’m going to wear something really out there, I will always put on a heavy eyeliner or eyeshadow,” she said. She also loves to accessorize with necklaces.
John Norlan, 10, manages to wear put-together outfits to school while still being comfortable. His secret for this is baggy clothing.
“My favorite kind of pants are straight-legged, oversized–multiple sizes bigger than my waist–, and not too long,” John said. He finds that pants are the most important component of an outfit.
John shops mainly at thrift stores. He appreciates the sustainability and low prices of second-hand clothing.
“[By shopping at thrift stores], you aren’t necessarily supporting fast fashion,” he said.
