November Fashion Spotlight
Kate Gersonde, 12, wears a gray, cropped tank-top, layered with a blue plaid shirt. Baggy jeans and Converse sneakers on, she explained her style inspiration is derived from Pinterest and Emma Chamberlain. Necklaces and other jewelry being the most important accessories to her outfits, she wears many layered over one another. Usually shopping at Urban Outfitters, Pacsun, and Goodwill, her advice to others is, “Don’t worry about if other people like it. Just make sure you like it. If you’re happy with it, then it looks good.”
Inspired by older horror movies such as Scream and Poltergeist, Jack Klitchman, 11, described his style as “dark” and “kind of punk.” Wearing ripped black jeans with green and black stripes peeking through, he wore another statement piece—his jean jacket. The pins and patches adorning it range from pop culture references, celebrities, and family members, such as his mom’s high school pin from cheerleading. Jack takes a calculated approach when shopping. “What I do [is] I thrift all of my clothing and then I spend a lot of money on the accessories, because I feel like [they] really make an outfit pop.”
