November Fashion Spotlight

Kyle Martin

Kyle Martin, 11 jokingly describes his style as, “Whatever I think looks good.”

Fashion became more relevant to Kyle his sophomore year, when he joined his new friend group. They got him into the culture of skating, which greatly influenced his style.

Kyle gets most of his inspiration from the skaters he watches in videos: Jamie Foy, Kader Sylla, Zion Wright, Alex Midler, and Yuto Horigome. This includes baggier fitting clothing, and he normally leans toward muted colors, such as brown and black.

“Shoes are definitely the most important part of an outfit,” he said.

Kyle heavily enjoys thrifting, especially from Goodwill, Mosaic, and Lighthouse. Although he mostly shops at thrift stores, he also enjoys going to Vans outlets, describing them as “pretty sick.”

Emerson Flynn

For Emerson Flynn, 10 style is something she likes to focus on because it’s one of the fun parts of school.

Emerson describes her style as earthy and comfortable. Most of her inspiration comes from random people she sees on social media or in person.

“Sometimes it looks like I've been inspired by a grandma because of some of the sweaters I like to wear,” she said. But the most important thing to Emerson in an outfit is her jewelry.

“I always have rings on,” she said. Although Emerson enjoys thrifting, she also shops from bigger brands such as Pacsun, H&M, and Urban Outfitters. She also tends to gravitate more towards earthy tones. It was Emerson's freshman year when she found her style.

“I started to dress more like myself,” she said.
