Ask Anything: Sophie Confer

Q: Should I go to prom or McDonald’s?

A: Honestly… both! Check with your date/prom squad, but I don’t see a problem with a cheap date. Last year, my date and I shared an extravagant meal in the McDonald’s parking lot before my junior prom.

Q: Can we expand the spring break so teachers get everything ready for students?

A: As that is the second to last week of April, I vote we expand summer break (rather than spring break) so our awesome staff can get everything ready for the next school year. Sounds good, right?

Q: What is something that you are taking out of high school that you feel is key to help you in life after graduation?

A: You will never, ever, regret showing kindness to others. In high school, you are going to go through a lot of change and hardships, but you are not alone.

Q: How do I dump my boyfriend?

A: Well, I have dumped a few in my day. So… I recommend an in-person conversation, and letting him down easy. Remain level-headed and have your reasoning prepared beforehand. If all else fails, run.

Q:  My dog has long nipples. Should I be concerned?

A: Please Google “veterinarians near me” ASAP.

Q: What are some things that you do to get your head out of a dark place?

A: Firstly, I hope you are well and prioritizing yourself <3. A few simple things that allow me to reduce my negative headspace are going on a run (honestly, just getting my body moving and releasing endorphins) as well as talking to someone. Whether it be a peer or a professional, confiding in someone often helps me shift my perspective.
