Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is set to resume contact sports today, February 4. Contact sports such as ice hockey, competitive cheer, girls/boys basketball, and wrestling have been suspended for several months and were originally set to come back February 1, however, the rise in COVID cases halted the sports’ start dates.

While sports haven’t officially been given the green light to resume sports with contact, teams have begun tryouts and participated in contactless workouts. During these practices, athletes must remain distant and wear masks throughout the duration of practice.
