The Average Joe’s Finish Stellar Season
Even in a more than an abnormal season, the Average Joe’s robotics team rose to the challenge ending the year with several awards. The team took third place in the robotics skills challenge, won the Industrial Design Award, and won the Engineering Design Award in the First ever game Design Challenge. The Joes prevailed despite facing the challenge of a new coach, fewer team members, and limited capacity in the arena. “It was a rough year, many people dropped out because it wasn’t the same experience anymore.” Jose Hernandez, 11, said. However, they are still really proud of their accomplishments.
In addition to their team awards, team member Jared Svetlev won the district and state levels for the Dean’s list award and is was selected as one of 12 students from the state of Michigan to be a finalist at the international level. “It was definitely a bit surreal… we are still waiting on the next round of interviews, or notetaking, but making it this far was really nice.” Jared Svetlev, 11 said. Make sure to congratulate Jared and the rest of the Average Joes on their outstanding season!
