On Monday, March 21, 10 people were killed by a shooter in Boulder, Colorado. The gunman, donning body armor and an AR-15 type weapon, entered a supermarket in the college city and opened on customers. With the victims was Officer Eric Talley, a 54-year-old employee of the Boulder Police department who was responding to the “barrage” of calls related to the gunshots. The shooter, Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, is a 21-year-old from a suburb of Denver who had lived in the United States for most of his life. He survived a bullet wound that shot through his leg prior to being charged with 10 counts of murder in the first degree.

While it's too soon to realize any motives, the investigation is ongoing and more information is being released to the public daily. “What happened was so sad. I just don't understand why someone would shoot up a supermarket. It's such a diverse place with so many groups of people using it. How could someone have so much hate for that many types of people,” Alex Duell, 12, said.
