UK Covid Variant Found in St. Joseph County

The United Kingdom Variant of Covid-19 has been found in St. Joseph County. According to the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency, the two people who it was detected are currently in isolation. The UK variant is said to be 50% more contagious than the typical coronavirus strain. This finding comes as the St. Joseph School District is considering going into a hybrid schedule after spring break. “If BCHD changes their quarantine protocol from 6 feet to 3 feet, we will not need to run the hybrid schedule,” Interim Superintendent Kelly Gaideski said. The school district will be announcing its decision Thursday, March 25.
