SJHS Actors Receive WAVE Award

On Wednesday, May 24, the SJHS cast and crew of Mama Mia received a WAVE nomination in the Mendel Center, which is an award used to promote, encourage, and recognize excellence in high school plays. Though the play was nominated for eight awards, Abby Berry, 12, won Most Outstanding Lead Actor.

“It was such a surreal moment when my name was announced because I really didn’t expect it to happen. I went up on the stage to receive it, breathless and buzzing with adrenaline,” Abby said.

The awards the cast and crew received nominations for include Outstanding Set Design, Outstanding Lighting Design, Outstanding Choreography, Outstanding Orchestra/Band, Outstanding Featured Actor, Outstanding Supporting Actor, Outstanding Lead Actor, and Outstanding High School Musical.

“The whole cast and crew did an amazing job and I love them all,” Abby said.
