February is CTE month (career technical education). CTE is a state-run program utilized in schools across the country designed to give high school students an opportunity to experience different careers in a real-life setting. Students can use these programs to become more familiar and employable in a field they are interested in. There are multitudes of CTE programs offered in Berrien County that can found on this website. They offer programs such as automotive, culinary, woodworking, and more.

“What’s valuable for students to learn, what skills are valuable for kids to pick up, but it’s all about career awareness and exposure to help guide your post-secondary,” SJHS Vice-Principal and CTE Director Mr. James Berry said when asked about the benefits of participating in a CTE program.
