This past Monday, the SJ boys and girls track team hosted their first track meet of the season. As field events began at four o’clock that overcast afternoon, Karly Klaer, 11, warmed up for one of her events—the shot put. During the event, she beat the St. Joseph High School girls shot put record, which sat at 37 feet 8 inches since 1977. Karly threw 37 feet 11 inches.

Not only a good night for Karly, the girls track team overall won the meet against Portage Central, scoring 89.5 to 68.5, leaving the team with a 4-0 in the SMAC West Division, making them the division champions.
