St. Joe needs a new commissioner

Commissioner Peggy Getty, a member of the city commission since 2017, announced last month that she plans on retiring soon and the commission is looking to fill her spot. Her husband, Michael Getty, job has been moved to South Bend and she plans to follow him with their two daughters. In a meeting over Zoom on Monday, January 11, plans were made to replace her–the candidate would serve until the end of Mrs. Getty’s term (November), but would then have to run for re-election. The applicant must submit their application for consideration by February 4.
