As the girls tennis season nears its close, the team is preparing for the state tournament on Friday, June 3. The tournament will continue to semifinals Saturday morning, followed by finals later in the day. Hope College will host the singles and doubles hosted at Holland Christian will host doubles; a total of 19 teams will attend.

“I’m very excited to go to state this year because we were super close to going last year but didn’t make it. It’s also exciting because we have two seniors who have never been to state!” Lanie Smith, St. Joe’s 1 singles, said.  Lanie has kept a winning record of 11-7 this season in the competitive 1 singles spot.

“This season has been exciting for Saint Joe Lady Bears tennis. In our coaches first year working with us, they guided us with confidence through difficult regionals to qualify for state. Our team has worked hard all season, and we hope to only build on this year's success,” Ceci Ruchti, 1 doubles, said.
