Whirlpool Finalizes The Lakeview Bike Trail

Whirlpool is finishing their seven mile stretch of bike trails along the Whirlpool Lakeview Campus and the west side of M-63. The five miles of trails along the campus are open, and the two miles along the lakeside will open to the community mid-June. Whirlpool will release the opening date early next week.

“We have a beautiful and sprawling campus and wanted to share this space with the community while investing in and supporting recreational activity in the area,” Whirlpool Corporation Director of Global Real Estate, Mark Richards, responded. Additionally, Whirlpool hopes these trails will allow cyclists to safely ride off-road.

“It’s a solid course. While it’s beginner level, it takes a while, and I’m glad Whirlpool added it,” Tommy Weykamp, 11, said.

In the future, Whirlpool has “the goal of connecting to current recreational paths in the area and expanding the existing trail system in Southwest Michigan,” Richards concluded.

Whirlpool waters their new landscaping around bike trails at the front of their campus. Wound around the campus and the lakeside, the trails expanded seven miles connected by a tunnel under M-63 intended to keep cyclists off the busy road.
