SJPS Makes Revisions to the School Calendar

St Joseph Public Schools made the decision to adjust the calendar cycle for the benefit of our community—which affects everyone involved with the district. The new start date is August 28, 2023, and the new end date for K-11 is May 31, 2024. Spring Break is also affected, moving it to March 29, 2024 to April 7, 2024.

“[It’s] mostly to align with all of the other school districts in Berrien County since we share so many students and programs across the county with other schools it just makes things a lot easier to manage for students, staff, and the community,” Mr. Gregory Blomgren, high school principal,  said. 

This is done in three year contracts, which indicates it will stay for a while.
“I really don't feel like this will have a major impact on families or students with us at SJHS.  Majority of us are ready to get back to school in August as we have a good percentage of our students and staff already back on campus involved with camps, athletics, and prep for school so I don't think it will really be that significant of a change,” Mr. Blomgen said.
